“It was when Good Day came out last winter. While singing, only one fan of mine got in. One person came to cheer me on. After I sing the line, ‘Why is the sky so blue?’, the cheer would be like, ‘Milky IU!’. It was only one girl, but I could clearly hear her voice on stage. So, I was about to cry while singing. And that same day, I won first place. I was giving my speech and, instead of my parents, I thought of her first. So, while I was thanking the girl, I started to cry.
I really didn’t have a goal or ambitions. If I get first place, I’d like it, but if I don’t I won’t really mind. I would like it if I become the best female singer, but if I don’t, I won’t mind. I used to think like that. But because of her, I now have a goal—to at least become a singer who can take care of her fans. Because if a singer stays weakened and discouraged… fans will also feel discouraged among other fans. So, because of her, my goal is to become a singer who encourages her fans.”
